PPCR2: BRCH Mid Term Review for BRCH accomplished
The Mid Term Review of Building Resilience to Climate related Hazards have been accomplished on 25 January to 5 February 2016. The Mid Term Review team was led by Poonam Pillai (Senior
Environmental Specialist, Task Team Leader, World Bank). The review team also carried out the implementation support consultations with the various stakeholders of Government of Nepal (GoN) for the Building Resilience to Climate Related-Hazards (BRCH). The mid-term review made the following conclusions:
- The project Development Objectives, results and project design remain relevant and consistent with the needs of the country.
- The project implementation has been slow but ongoing and expected to pick up. Added to this, in the last year, with the earthquake and Terai unrest, some issues are outside the control of the Project Management Units.
The team also had detailed discussions with the Government on the priority areas considered for support through the proposed grant financing, in the amount of approximately 5 million USD available additionally from the PPCR program. Technical training on production on agro-meteorological products and agricultural insurance was also provided by the Bank team during the week of 1-5 February 2016. PPCR BRCH project approved in 15 January 2013 and came into effectiveness on 20 June 2013 and will close on 20 November 2018.
